No Mind Zone

I stopped performing and started living.

I'm a performer by profession. I dance on stage. I had completely forgotten what it felt like to move just for myself, with no audience, no judgment, no choreography. HOPE gave that back to me.

The irony of my story is that I do this for a living. I dance professionally. I perform. I express. And yet I had completely lost the ability to move freely — just for myself, just for the feeling of it.

Every time I danced, it was for an audience. Even in private practice, I was performing for the imaginary viewer in my head. Judging every movement. Correcting every step.

The No Mind Zone was the first time in years I moved without that voice. The music was different from anything I'd choreograph. The space was different. And somehow, surrounded by people who had never danced professionally in their lives, I found myself moving more freely than I had in a decade.

Because nobody was watching. And neither was I.
