The Tribe Zone showed me what real connection feels like. I'd been surrounded by people my whole life and felt completely alone. Three sessions later, I have people who actually know me.
I've always been social. Good at parties. Good at networking. Good at saying the right things to the right people at the right time. I was excellent at being liked.
What I wasn't good at was being known.
The Tribe Zone at HOPE was the first space I'd been in where the whole point was to actually show up. Not the curated version. The real one. The uncertain, sometimes awkward, doesn't-have-it-all-figured-out one.
It was terrifying for about the first twenty minutes. And then something cracked open.
I've made more genuine connections in three HOPE sessions than I had in three years of social events. Because we were all playing together. And you can't really hide when you're playing.
